Our Bespoke Learn-To-Read Program

Cracking the Code Together

Hi, we are the Illawarra based, local educator duo and reading fanatics behind Reading Warriors.

Our key focus is on the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for our littlest loves to develop an essential and lifelong skill (and love) of reading – this includes Phonemic Awareness, Phonics and Fluency.

We understand that a child struggling to read can be a worrying and stressful time for both the child and their family.

Diverse kids reading books

Phonemic Awareness

Designed to build strong foundational literacy skills through phonemic awareness – the ability to hear, identify & manipulate sound into spoken words.

Kids in kindergarten

Phonics

By teaching children how letters & sounds work together to form words. By learning to decode words through sound-letter patterns, children gain the tools to read, spell & write with greater ease and confidence.

Fluency

By following these steps and progressing through our program, children develop the ability to read with speed, accuracy and expression. Fluency bridges the gap between decoding words and understanding them, focused on meaning.

GRADE IMPROVEMENT

Through the teaching of letter-sound relationships.

LEARN/CATCH UP ON READING SKILLS

By instilling crucial foundational steps and expanding skill sets from this point on.

DEVELOP CONFIDENCE

By increasing skills and simultaneously increasing motivation (and a love) of reading.

Our vision is for every primary aged child to be supported, in a safe & inspiring yet challenging & most of all fun way.

Our focus is on instructional interventions for infants & primary aged children that are the most effective, to increase positive outcomes for happy & avid readers.

“Reading is more than just a skill, it’s the thread that weaves together learning, identity and a lifetime of opportunities.  It’s a gateway to understanding the world, connecting with others, and unlocking confidence and curiosity.  By nurturing these cognitive abilities early, you help create learners who don’t just “read to pass,” but read to grow.”

“Teaching a child to read opens the door to infinite worlds—empowering them to wonder, grow, and explore with confidence, to stumble bravely, and to rise knowing that every mistake is the beginning of new understanding and the path to lifelong learning.”
